On Ap4il 5, 2002,
Eutelsat signed a contract with Alcatel Space for the delivery of
Eutelsat W5. Eutelsat W5 was originally designated Eutelsat W1
(nicknamed Wet One), but it was damaged in a fire at Alcatel
Space's satellite factory in May 1998. Since that time the
satellite has been in storage awaiting a buyer.
