The satellite
will be positioned at 42°E,
where it will be co-located with
Turksat 1C. The satellite will be operated by Eurasiasat SAM,
Monaco. The satellite has previously been known as Turksat 2A.
The 3535 kg (7791
lbm) spacecraft was built by Alcatel Space Industries using a
Spacebus 3000 B3 satellite bus. The satellite is equipped
with 32 Ku-band transponders, and has an expected design life of
12 years. The satellite will have 8.8 kW (EOL) power. The
spacecraft stowed dimensions
were 2.5 m x 3.5 m x 5.5 m (8.2 x 11.5 x 18 ft).
Eurasiasat
SAM is jointly owned by Turk Telekom (51%) and Alcatel Space (49%).
