GE 7 was manufactured by Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems, Sunnyvale, and will be located at the 146°W orbital slot over the Pacific Ocean. Based on Lockheed Martin's A2100 design, GE 7 weighed 1935 kg (4362 lbm) at launch and has a planned 15 year life. GE 7, owned and operated by GE Americom, will provide telecommunication services using 24 C-band transponders to the United States and parts of the Caribbean. Such services will include providing cable operators with regional and national video distribution, internet, and radio services. GE 7 replaces the Satcom C1 satellite.
