The LE-5A is a expander bleed cycle liquid
oxygen / liquid hydrogen upper stage engine which powers the H-II cryogenic second
stage. NASDA has been working on a newer low-cost version, the LE-5B, intended to
power the second stage of the H-IIA launch vehilce.
