Technical Specifications

Block IIF satellites are the fourth generation of GPS satellites. In April 1996 the contract was awarded to Rockwell International (now Boeing) for 6 satellites and 27 options.

In March 2000 the USAF decided to rebid this contract. Boeing will be allowed to build as many as 12 of the Block IIF satellites, but the remainder will be put out for competitive bidding, although the exact number that will be built is still under consideration.
