Turkey’s
Spy Satellite Delayed
Turkey’s
plans to buy and operate its first military imaging satellite by
2003 have collapsed because of the government-wide austerity
measures imposed as a result of the country’s economic crisis.
Launch of the US$250 million satellite has been postponed
indefinitely. Turkish government officials doubt that a contract
will be signed before 2003 or 2004.
