LeoLink Incorporated to Market Shavit Derivatives

Astrium and Israel Aircraft Industries Ltd. have incorporated their joint-venture LeoLink, in Toulouse, France. LeoLink is to market the LK family of small launch vehicles derived from Israel's Shavit. Astrium and IAI may be joined by L-3 Communications subsidiary, Coleman Aerospace, LeoLink's partner for manufacturing and marketing the LK launch vehicles in the United States.

LeoLink plans to fly its first LK-A vehicle from Israel during the third quarter of 2001, to launch the Ofeq 5 observation satellite. The first commercial flight of the LK-A is tentatively scheduled for late 2002 with an unnamed satellite from Alcāntara, Brazil.
