LeoLink
Incorporated to Market Shavit Derivatives
Astrium
and Israel Aircraft Industries Ltd. have incorporated their joint-venture
LeoLink, in Toulouse, France. LeoLink is to market the LK family of
small launch vehicles derived from Israel's Shavit. Astrium and IAI
may be joined by L-3 Communications subsidiary, Coleman Aerospace,
LeoLink's partner for manufacturing and marketing the LK launch
vehicles in the United States.
LeoLink
plans to fly its first LK-A vehicle from Israel during the third
quarter of 2001, to launch the Ofeq 5 observation satellite. The
first commercial flight of the LK-A is tentatively scheduled for
late 2002 with an unnamed satellite from Alcāntara, Brazil.
