Goodrich
Adopts New Name
BFGoodrich Co.,
Charlotte, North Carolina, changed the name of the company to
Goodrich Corp., reflecting its transformation over the past 15 years
from a tire and plastics company to an aerospace and industrial
products business. The change drops the initials of founder Benjamin
Franklin Goodrich, but retains a brand that has widespread
recognition (still causing confusion among consumers unaware that
the company sold off its tire business to Michelin in 1986). The
name change formally takes effect on June 1.
In
2000, Goodrich totaled US$4.4 billion in sales in the aerospace and
industrial products businesses and has forecast double-digit
earnings growth this year.
