Proceeding With Galileo Navigation Satellite Constellation
The
European Union transport ministers agreed to provide US$89.7 million
(100 million euros) in the first phase of the projected Galileo
satellite navigation system. Galileo will consist of a network of 30
satellites with a design life of 10 years, becoming operational by
2008 with an annual maintenance bill of some 200 millions euros. The
development, expected to cost altogether 3.25 billion euros.
