Developing Reusable Launch Vehicle Demonstrator
Astrium
is developing a demonstrator, called Phoenix, for a reusable space
transport system. Development, construction and testing are
scheduled for completion by the end of the year 2003. The
demonstrator will be nearly 7 meters (23 ft) long, with a wingspan
of 3.8 meters (12.5 ft) and weigh 1,200 kg (2645 lbm). The cost of
the project is Euro 16 million.
