Selects Ball for Two AVStar Satellites
AstroVision
International Inc. has selected Ball Aerospace & Technologies,
over Spectrum Astro, to
build the first two satellites for the AVStar constellation.
Ball’s contract includes an option to build three more satellites.
Launch of the first satellite is planned for 2003. Financial details
of the contract were not disclosed.
AstroVision
is planning a five satellite system that will provide a live video
feed of Earth from space. Astrovision has previously stated it will
take about US$250 million to build all five satellites planned for
the AVStar constellation.
