Wire sources have been reporting that News Corp. is reportedly close to concluding acquisition talks with Hughes Electronics and its DirecTV unit. Rumors got a boost when the Financial Post reported that Rupert Murdoch ordered a halt on acquisitions as News Corp. seeks to conserve resources for the possible US$40 billion acquisition of DirecTV.
