Contracts ImageSat for Exclusive Rights to Mid-East Pictures
Israel's
Ministry of Defense has signed a contract with ImageSat for the
exclusive rights to all commercial imaging of Israel provided by the
recently launched Eros A1 satellite within a radius of 2,000 km around
Israel and thus covers countries such as Libya, Iraq, Iran, Syria
and even the Muslim republics of the former Soviet Union. The
Ministry of Defense is a preferred customer of Imagesat and can
reserve the satellite for its needs and even receives command
capability for the camera. The contract was reported at US$15
million (NIS61 million).
