Inmarsat
Withdraws FCC Satellite License Request
Inmarsat
Ventures Ltd. of London has withdrawn its application with the
U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC)
for a license to operate a
mobile satellite communications system, called Horizons, in the
2-gigahertz, or S-band, region of the radio spectrum.
Inmarsat has
dropped the idea in favor of its Inmarsat 4 satellite design,
which will operate in the L-band spectrum, which Inmarsat already
uses for its satellites.
