of GenCorp, and Pratt & Whitney Space Propulsion, a unit
of United Technologies Corporation, ended negotiations to form a new
 joint
venture space propulsion company.

Space Propulsion and Aerojet had announced their intention to form a
new space propulsion company, in July. Among the reasons cited for
the decision to cease negotiations were a number of unexpected
issues in program transition and transition requirements. Both
companies agreed they would continue to explore opportunities on a
selective program basis as appropriate.
