Satellite To Build Satellites For Nigeria

Satellite Technology Ltd. (SSTL) has signed a contract with the
Nigerian government for the development and launch of its first
satellite within the next two years. NigeriaSat 1 is to be an 80 kg
class microsatellite to be developed as part of SSTL's Disaster
Monitoring Constellation which will include four other satellites
provided by Great-Britain and Algeria (AlSat 1) as well as,
potentially, China and Thailand. The US$11 million (£7.46 million)
contract includes a feasibility study for NigeriaSat 2, a
geostationary communication satellite based on the 400 kg class SSTL
Minisatellite platform. Total cost of these satellites could amount
to US$75 million.
