And Brazil To Jointly Build Remote Sensing Satellite
China
and Brazil have signed a cooperative agreement to build the second
China-Brazil Earth Remote Sensing satellite (Ziyuan 2/CBERS-2). (Ziyuan
means resource in Chinese.) Brazil will assemble and test the new
satellite. China will send a team of specialists and equipment to
Brazi. The launch from Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center (TSLC) is
planned for the end of 2001. This satellite will replace CBERS-1,
which has a design lifetime of two years.
