Molynia M Launches Kosmos 2397
A
Molnyia M successfully launched Kosmos 2397, from Plesetsk
Cosmodrome at 01:53 UTC on April 2. The Molniya-T military
communications satellite was placed in a highly inclined
elliptical orbit, often called “molniya” orbit (molniya
translates from Russian as “lightening”). The 1660 kg (3560
lbm) satellite was manufactured by NPO Prikladnoy Mekhaniki.
