Telkom 2 to Launch on Ariane 5

More Information:

PT Telkom, Jakarta, Indonesia, has signed a contract with Arianespace to launch Telkom 2 in the second half of 2004. The Orbital Sciences built satellite will be launched on an Ariane 5. Orbital’s Star 2 bus can weigh as much as 2300 kg (5070 lbm). The satellite will carry 24 C-band transponders, and have an expected life of 15 years. The satellite will be located at 118°E, replacing Palapa B4. This is the 11th contract announced by Arianespace in 2002 and is the 250^th contract overall. Financial terms were not disclosed.
