SES
Americom Announces Launch Contracts for 4 Spacecraft

SES Americom
announced that it has signed a contract with International Launch
Services (ILS) to launch AMC 10 and AMC 11, using Atlas 2AS launch
vehicles. SES Americom also announced that it has signed a
contract with Arianespace to launch AMC 13 and AMC 15 using the
Ariane 5.
The
AMC 10 and AMC 11 all C-band spacecraft will be located at
geostationary orbital positions of 135°W and 131°W,
respectively. The spacecraft are being built by Lockheed Martin,
based on the A2100 satellite bus. They are scheduled to be lau nched
in the first half of 2004. AMC 10 and AMC 11 will replace Satcom
C3 and C4. The Atlas 2AS will be the primary launch vehicle, but
Proton M vehicles will serve as a backup. ILS markets the Atlas
and Protn launch vehicles.
Alcatel
Space is building AMC 13 using the Spacebus 4000 bus. The a ll
C-band satellite will be launched from the Kourou Spaceport in the
2nd Half 2003 using an Ariane 5 ECA launch vehicle. The satellite
will be positioned at 172°E.
AMC
15 is under construction by Lockheed Martin, using the A2100 bus.
AMC 15 will carry a Ka-band transponder, along with 24 Ku-band
transponders. The satellite will be located 105°W. It will
be
launched using an Ariane 5 ECA launch vehicle in the 2nd Half
2004. The spacecraft has been designated to complement the DBS
spacecraft proposed by SES AMERICOM to be located at 105.5°W.
