SES Americom Announces Launch Contracts for 4 Spacecraft

SES Americom announced that it has signed a contract with International Launch Services (ILS) to launch AMC 10 and AMC 11, using Atlas 2AS launch vehicles. SES Americom also announced that it has signed a contract with Arianespace to launch AMC 13 and AMC 15 using the Ariane 5.

The AMC 10 and AMC 11 all C-band spacecraft will be located at geostationary orbital positions of 135°W and 131°W, respectively. The spacecraft are being built by Lockheed Martin, based on the A2100 satellite bus. They are scheduled to be launched in the first half of 2004. AMC 10 and AMC 11 will replace Satcom C3 and C4. The Atlas 2AS will be the primary launch vehicle, but Proton M vehicles will serve as a backup. ILS markets the Atlas and Protn launch vehicles.

Alcatel Space is building AMC 13 using the Spacebus 4000 bus. The all C-band satellite will be launched from the Kourou Spaceport in the 2nd Half 2003 using an Ariane 5 ECA launch vehicle. The satellite will be positioned at 172°E.

AMC 15 is under construction by Lockheed Martin, using the A2100 bus. AMC 15 will carry a Ka-band transponder, along with 24 Ku-band transponders. The satellite will be located 105°W. It will  be launched using an Ariane 5 ECA launch vehicle in the 2nd Half 2004. The spacecraft has been designated to complement the DBS spacecraft proposed by SES AMERICOM to be located at 105.5°W.
