Launches Classified Kosmos 2388 Spacecraft

A Molniya M
successfully launched a classified Kosmos 2388 spacecraft from
Plesetsk Cosmodrome, pad LC43/3, at 2207 UTC on April 1. The Oko
spacecraft is thought to be an early warning satellite
manufactured by NPO Lavochkin. The 1900 kg (4188 lbm) satellite
was placed into a highly elliptical orbit. The spacecraft will be
operated by the Russian Defense Ministry.
The
launch was observed by Deputy Defense Minister Lyubov Kudelina.
She was accompanied by accompanied by Col-Gen Anatoliy Perminov
and a group of generals and officers from the Space Troops
headquarters.
