Space Wins SES Americom AMC-23 Contract

Alcatel Space has
signed a contract to build AMC 23 for SES Americom, Inc. Alcatel
Space also disclosed that, in February, SES Americom cancelled
orders for two spacecraft, as permitted by the terms and
conditions of the contract. Financial details were not disclosed.
SES Global had recently notified Alcatel Space that the GE 3i and
GE 4i satellite orders would be canceled.
The new Alcatel
Space-built satellite will be based on the Spacebus 4000 platform.
The 4,850 kg (10,689 lbm) satellite will operate 60 C-band
transponders. The satellite will be built in Alcatel's Cannes and
Toulouse (France) clean rooms. Alcatel Space currently has
construction commitments for 5 spacecraft with SES Global.
SES
Americom is a subsidiary of SES Global, SA. SES Global SA has a
fleet of 28 satellites. In addition SES Global’s strategic
partnerships and participation in AsiaSat, NSAB, Star One,
Americom Asia-Pacific and Nahuelsat combine to provide customer
access to a fleet of 41 satellites.
