Sea Launch
successfully launched XM-1 (Roll) from the Odyssey Launch Platform
at 22:10:29.16
(3:10:29 p.m. PST) on May 8.
The satellite will be positioned at 85°W.
The
satellite was built by Boeing Satellite Systems based on a BSS-702
platform.
The 4682
kg (10,324 lbm) satellite will broadcast digital radio to
the United States for XM Satellite Radio, using the S-band. The
satellite is expected to have a 15 year life, with an end-of-life
power of 18 kW.
