Astrium to Build Eutelsat W3A Satellite

Eutelsat has contracted with Astrium to design and build the Eutelsat W3A communication satellite. The 4300 kg (9477 lbm) Eutelsat W3A satellite will use the Astrium Eurostar 3000 bus to carry 50 Ku-band transponders. Eutelsat W3A will be launched by mid-2003 on a launch vehicle to be selected later by Eutelsat.
