Soyuz Launches Cargo to International Space Station

A Soyuz U successfully launched Progress M-44 from Baikonur Cosmodrome, pad LC 1, to the International Space Station (ISS) at 0809:35 UTC (00:09:35 a.m. PST) on February 26. The initial orbit injection was into 193 km by 243 km (104 by 131 nmi) with a 51.6 degree inclination. The cargo ship is scheduled to dock with ISS on 28 February at 09:48 UTC (1:48 a.m. PST).

The spacecraft is carrying 2.75 metric tons (6061 lbm) of food, water, propellant for refueling the Russian Zvezda service module, equipment to perform biomedical experiments, tools, consumables for the air purification system and life support equipment needed for the station. The food includes citrus fruits, apples, onions and garlic to supplement the crew's menu.
