Launches NRO Satellite From Vandenberg

Titan 4B/NUS was launched from Vandenberg AFB, CA, pad SLC 4E, at
2345
UTC (1:45 p.m. PDT August 17) carrying a classified
satellite for the U.S. National Reconnaissance Office (NRO).
Aviation Week and Space Technology speculates that the 15-ton
satellite could be a Lacrosse imaging radar. The total mission
cost, satellite and launch, exceeds US$1.4 billion, the launch
portion being US$358 million.
