Hispasat 1D To Be Launched On Atlas

Spain’s
Hispasat SA Board of Director’s approved the construction and
launch of Hispasat 1D. The satellite is to be built by Alcatel
Space Industries. International Launch Services (ILS) has been
contracted to launch the satellite, using an Atlas, by the end of
2002. The satellite design life is fifteen years, and launch mass
will be greater than 3 metric tons. The satellite will carry 28
transponders and be positioned at 30ºW.
