Proton Successfully Launches
Classified Military Satellite
A Proton K/DM-2 successfully launched Kosmos 2371
from Baikonur Cosmodrome at 4:44 p.m. PDT (2344 UTC) July 4. The
2400 kg Geyzer military communications satellite was built by NPO Prikladnoy Mekhaniki. This launch was the second Proton
launch to demonstrate the upgraded engines which will be used to
launch the Zvezda service module to the International Space
Station.
